Lumitech History

Lumitech steplights were designed by Warren Herft while he was Head Technician at Perth Entertainment Centre (P.E.C.) in 1994. It stemmed from the need to do something about the frayed carpet edges on the seating aisles.

So Warren set about to design and create a different type of steplight, one that would operate on the existing DC power supply running the original steplights, would be easy for people to see in a dark auditorium during a show, and be economically viable to manufacture and install.

The steplights were installed in P.E.C., His Majestys Theatre, and Perth Concert Hall during that time. When the Entertainment Centre closed, Warren moved to redesign the light strip plus add a new version designed for wooden and concrete steps. Lumitech was then set up at the start of 2005.

In this age of public health and safety consciousness, it is imperative for people, young and old alike) to be able to see the steps while traversing them. These steplights have impressed venues and Government departments so much that they are now installed in such well known Perth venues as His Majestys Theatre, Perth Concert Hall, The Burswood Theatre (part of Burswood Entertainment Complex), as well as European Ceramics Showroom, Metro City Nightclub, Black Betty's Nightclub, and Eastern Hills High School Lecture Theatre.
